Shipping Policy

Freight delivery, receiving and inspection, and how claims work.

Last updated: October 5, 2026

This policy covers ordering, shipping, receiving, inspection, and damage claims for orders placed on OverstockCabinets.com, operated by Overstock Cabinets LLC ("Overstock Cabinets," "we," "us," or "our"). Cancellations, returns and refunds are governed by our Return and Refund Policy, and defects that appear after the claim periods below are covered by our Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Please read the Receiving and Inspection section before your delivery arrives. Freight delivery is different from parcel delivery, and what you do at the moment of delivery decides whether a damage claim can be paid.

1. Ordering

By using OverstockCabinets.com you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password, and you agree to accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account. All orders must be placed by a person 18 years of age or older. You agree that all information entered into the system is true to the best of your knowledge. We reserve the right to refuse service, remove or edit content, terminate accounts, or cancel orders at our sole discretion.

Customers are responsible for the accuracy of their orders. When your confirmation arrives, check every line: quantity, size, finish, door hand, and accessories. Checking out is your approval of that item list.

Accuracy of the shipping information is the sole responsibility of the customer. Customers will incur any additional cost or fee associated with an error in the shipping information provided, including carrier reconsignment and redelivery charges.

All orders must be paid in full to be processed. We do not accept C.O.D.

Order review. A large order, or an order with an unusually high quantity of a single item, may be held for confirmation before we accept it. We will contact you if that happens.

Out of stock and backorders. Availability changes quickly, and a supplier may discontinue a product without notice. If an item on your order is unavailable we will contact you, and you can choose to wait for it, substitute a comparable item, or cancel that item for a full refund of it. A backorder normally releases only once every item on it is available, so that it ships as a single shipment rather than in pieces.

2. Cancelling or changing an order

Cancellations and changes are governed by section 2 of our Return and Refund Policy. In short:

When you cancel or change What it costs
Within 24 hours of placing the order Free. Full refund
After 24 hours, before the order is picked $75 flat fee, for any change, including a full cancellation
After the order is picked, before it is loaded on a carrier Changes are no longer possible. A cancellation carries a 10% processing fee
After the order is loaded on a carrier or has shipped 20% restocking and processing fee, and freight both ways

Made to order and assembled product cannot be cancelled once production or assembly has begun.

Shipping charges are not refundable once an order has shipped, on a cancellation or on a return.

3. Assembled cabinet ordering

All assembled cabinets are made to order and can take up to twenty-one (21) business days to process, produce, and ship. Transit times may extend beyond that depending on location and delivery scheduling.

We reserve the right to refuse service, remove or edit content, or cancel assembled cabinet orders at our sole discretion.

All online assembled cabinet orders are final sale. Please verify your items before placing your order. Once production or assembly has begun the order cannot be changed or canceled, and it cannot be returned.

Customers are responsible for determining whether assembled products will fit into the space where they are intended to be installed, and whether they can be moved into that space. We are not responsible if an item cannot fit into a customer's home or a space within the home. Common oversized items include 36" lazy susans, pantries, and oven cabinets over 90".

All orders must be paid in full to be processed. We do not hold orders once they are placed. Customers are required to accept delivery in the normal time period.

4. General shipping

We use third party freight carriers and parcel delivery services. Carriers assume responsibility for orders while in transit.

Orders process and ship within 2 to 15 business days (Monday through Friday), and sometimes sooner. Processing time does not include transit time. Transit time can range from 2 to 7 business days depending on the delivery address.

We do not guarantee delivery dates and are not liable or responsible for circumstances beyond our control, so please allow for potential delays in transit or delays caused by supply chain disruption. We are not liable for lost time, lost wages, or a missed installer appointment caused by a delivery delay.

The shipping quote generated by the website is not guaranteed. We reserve the right to modify shipping estimates at our discretion to account for changes in freight rates, fuel costs, or accessorial charges.

Split shipments. We may fill one order from more than one location and in more than one shipment, at no extra cost to you. Your tracking email lists what is in each shipment.

One delivery attempt. The shipping you pay covers one delivery attempt. If the carrier cannot complete the delivery because nobody was available, because no appointment was scheduled, or because the address is not accessible, redelivery charges and carrier storage fees are yours.

Residential or commercial. Carriers classify an address by zoning. A business located in a residentially zoned area is treated as a residential delivery and is billed as one.

Cartons may carry a different finish name than the website. Our finish names are our own and do not always match what the manufacturer prints on the carton. Do not refuse a delivery because the carton says something different from what you ordered. Check your shipping paperwork or contact us first.

5. Receiving and inspection

Delivery scheduling and storage fees

Once your shipment arrives at the final destination terminal, the freight carrier will contact you to schedule delivery.

If you do not schedule a delivery appointment, the carrier may begin charging storage fees until delivery can be completed. Customers are solely responsible for any storage fees charged by the carrier.

Who must be present

An adult 18 or older, either you or an authorized representative, must be present to inspect, inventory, and sign for the delivery.

Residential delivery is curbside, end of truck

Residential delivery is curbside delivery. Freight will be dropped at the curb or in your driveway, whichever the driver judges safest.

The driver is responsible only for bringing the pallet to the end of the truck. From there, unloading is yours. Drivers will not bring freight into your home. This is the right moment to do your piece count and check each carton, because you are handling every box anyway.

Liftgate and pallet limitations

A liftgate is included automatically where the shipment can use one. Some shipments, particularly those on oversized or double pallets, are too large for a liftgate, in which case the driver may need to break down the pallet and offload individual cartons.

Help required at delivery

Cabinets are large and heavy. Have at least one or two additional adults available to help receive the shipment, whether or not a liftgate is used.

If adequate assistance is not available, the carrier may be unable to complete the delivery. That can result in redelivery fees, which are the customer's responsibility.

Inspect while the driver is present (required)

You must inspect the shipment for visible damage and missing items while the driver is present. The most reliable method is to print your order confirmation and cross-reference it against the delivery receipt as you unload.

  • Count the pallets and cartons. Any discrepancy between the count on the paperwork and what actually came off the truck must be written on the delivery receipt.
  • Write down every damage and every shortage, no matter how small, on the delivery receipt or bill of lading before the driver leaves.
  • Get a copy signed by both you and the driver. The driver carries multiple copies and must give you one.
  • Photograph the damage at the delivery, including the damaged packaging, not only the product.
  • You may ask the driver to wait until your visible inspection is complete.

If a carton looks compromised but you cannot tell what is inside

Write that on the delivery receipt too. Wording like "carton crushed, contents not yet inspected" is enough. Noting it at delivery is what preserves your right to file a concealed damage claim later.

If there is visible damage, accept the delivery, but document it

Do not refuse the delivery. Accept it after clearly noting the damage on the paperwork, then file a claim. That is the fastest route to replacement parts and the only route that lets us recover from the carrier.

A refused shipment carries the 20% restocking fee and freight both ways, and the refund is issued once the goods are back with us, as set out in section 5 of the Return and Refund Policy. On assembled and made to order product, which is final sale, refusing a delivery does not release you from paying for the order.

Carton counts are not item counts

Bills of lading list the number of cartons, which may not match the number of items in your order, because some items are packaged together.

Before signing, verify that all items on your shipment have been received. Your order may arrive in multiple shipments depending on the mix of products. Review your tracking email for the list of items in each shipment.

What we cannot cover if it is not documented

Signing a clean delivery receipt means you agree that everything on the order arrived and arrived undamaged. We are not responsible for visible damage or missing items that were not noted on the delivery paperwork at the time of delivery.

Concealed damage

Some damage is not visible until you open the cartons.

  • Visible damage, a short shipment, or a missing carton must be noted on the delivery receipt at delivery, and the claim must reach us within 5 business days after delivery.
  • Concealed damage inside a carton that looked undamaged at delivery must be claimed within 30 days after delivery. Keep the carton and packing.

These periods apply to freight and parcel shipments alike. Open and inspect the entire order as soon as you can. Waiting until installation day to open the boxes is the single most common reason a claim is denied.

6. Assembled cabinet receiving

All receiving policies above apply to assembled cabinet orders.

We offer curbside delivery on assembled cabinet orders with a liftgate.

Mixed orders of ready-to-assemble and assembled cabinets may ship separately.

You will be notified by email once the cabinets have shipped and are in transit to the final mile terminal. Once the cabinets have been received by the terminal, you can expect notification by phone and email within 1 to 2 business days to arrange the curbside delivery date.

Delivery service providers will not schedule a delivery appointment, and will have no record of the delivery, until they have received the cabinets at the final terminal.

Customers must schedule and accept delivery within 5 calendar days of receiving the final terminal arrival notification. Failure to accept delivery within that 5 day window will result in storage fees.

You will get an automated call the day or night before the delivery date with a delivery time frame for the next day. The driver may also call about 30 minutes to an hour before arriving.

Customers are required to accept delivery of the order even if it is damaged. Accepting the order and reporting the damage through our claims process expedites resolution.

We reserve the right to fulfill assembled cabinet claims with ready-to-assemble replacements in order to expedite the claims process.

Because all assembled cabinet sales are final, failure to schedule a delivery appointment, or refusal of an order once it has arrived, does not release the customer from the obligation to pay the full price of the order.

7. Tractor trailer accessibility

Your delivery address must be reachable by a full size tractor trailer unless we have agreed otherwise in advance. Limited access locations may carry an accessorial charge assessed by the carrier.

If your delivery address is not accessible by a 53 foot tractor trailer, a straight truck is required to deliver to your location. Depending on the weight of your items, a liftgate may also be required to offload the order.

A liftgate is a device used to raise and lower items between ground level and the trailer bed. Freight trailers sit roughly 56 inches above the ground and are designed to load and unload at a dock or with a forklift.

A straight truck is smaller than a 53 foot tractor trailer. A straight truck is required for residences on a dirt road, a dead end street, a narrow road, a private drive, a cul-de-sac, or in a gated community.

Contact us before your order ships if any of those describe your address, so a smaller truck can be arranged in advance.

Not all trucking terminals have a straight truck available. We do not know which destination terminal a shipment will arrive at, so we cannot anticipate which terminals have straight trucks. If a straight truck is not available for your address, you will have the option to meet the driver at a location the larger truck can enter, such as a parking lot, or to pick up your shipment at the trucking company's destination terminal.

Deliveries to less accessible areas, or to areas requiring special freight services such as crossing water, may carry additional freight charges. We will contact you before your order ships to go over your options.

8. Claims

To ensure prompt resolution of any issue with your order, please follow the claims process below.

Filing a claim

If your order arrives with visible damage, you must note it on the delivery paperwork at the time of delivery, as described in Receiving and Inspection. Once documented:

  • Email your claim to hello@overstockcabinets.com.
  • Submit one complete claim covering all damaged or missing items.

The following documentation is required:

  • Original order number, not a quote number
  • Signed delivery paperwork noting the damage, for visible damage
  • Photographs of the entire damaged item or panel, not close-ups, in .jpeg format
  • Photographs of the damaged packaging as well as the product. A claim without packaging photos may be limited to a component replacement rather than a full replacement
  • A detailed list of affected items with a description of the damage
  • The correct SKU or model number for each item

Deadlines

We must receive the claim within:

What happened Claim period
Visible damage, a short shipment, or a missing carton, noted on the delivery receipt 5 business days after delivery
Concealed damage inside a carton that looked undamaged at delivery (keep the carton and packing) 30 days after delivery
A manufacturing defect visible in the carton or on the unassembled unit 30 days after delivery
A manufacturing defect first visible during assembly or installation 10 days after it is first visible
Any claim of any kind No later than 180 days after delivery

A claim received after its period may be denied. After 180 days, a defect is handled under our Limited Lifetime Warranty, on its own terms.

We will review your claim within 2 business days of receiving it with the documentation above.

Customers are responsible for:

  • Filing on the correct SKUs
  • Inspecting the full order promptly
  • Retaining all damaged parts and packaging until the claim is resolved

Damage and replacement terms

Inspect all cabinet components thoroughly before assembly or installation.

If damage, defects, or missing parts are discovered, stop and report the issue immediately.

Claims on an item that has already been assembled or installed will be denied, because the original condition of the product can no longer be verified, except for a manufacturing defect that could not reasonably be seen before that step and is claimed within the period above. Photographs must be taken before assembly and before installation. Assembling or installing an item you knew was damaged is acceptance of that item.

Products that have been glued, stapled, modified, cut, painted, or otherwise altered are not eligible for replacement.

Do not discard any damaged item or its packaging until your claim is fully processed and closed.

Replacement is at the component level. Where a claim is approved, we replace the damaged or missing component, such as a door, drawer front, shelf, or hinge, where that fixes the problem, and the whole box where it does not. A damaged door earns a door, not a cabinet. We determine what is defective and what the remedy is. Cosmetic blemishes that do not affect the structure or function of a cabinet do not earn a full replacement, and we may supply a comparable component where the original is unavailable.

We do not pay labor. Installation, removal, refitting, callback time, and any cost of trades or subcontractors are not covered on any claim, including a freight claim or a warranty claim, including on an item that was flawed or was damaged in transit. That includes removing, refitting, or replacing a countertop, backsplash, flooring, plumbing, or an appliance in order to reach a cabinet.

In most cases you do not need to return damaged items. Sometimes parts from both the original and the replacement shipment are needed to build one complete, usable unit.

On a valid, on-time claim, replacements ship by ground at our cost and generally ship within 7 to 10 business days. Expedited shipping is not available on replacement parts.

Final-sale items (markdown lots and scratch-and-dent grades B, C and P): a short shipment, a wrong item, or transit damage noted on the delivery receipt and claimed within 5 business days is refunded for that unit, because there is usually no second unit to send. The condition described by an item's grade is not damage and is not a claim.

Assembled cabinet orders may be fulfilled with ready-to-assemble replacements to expedite resolution.

We reserve the right to issue a full refund after three unsuccessful replacement attempts. If a refund is issued, the claim is considered closed.

Defects after delivery are a warranty matter

A defect that shows up after the claim periods above have closed is handled under our Limited Lifetime Warranty, not under this claims process. The Limited Lifetime Warranty is the controlling document on its coverage, terms, and exclusions.

Exclusions

Claims do not cover:

  • Errors caused by the customer, a designer, or a design plan, including a dimension supplied by the customer.
  • Discrepancies between a quote and a final order, including missing items. If a designer prepared your quote, it is your responsibility to resolve the discrepancy with that designer directly. Those items are not eligible for claims through us.
  • Output from third party kitchen design software. We do not guarantee its accuracy; use the specifications published on the Site.
  • Assembly accidents, misuse, exposure to water, tampering, unreasonable use, or improper installation.
  • Damage resulting from unauthorized repairs, service performed by unapproved parties, or modifications made for commercial use.
  • A finished dimension that differs from the published dimension by less than 1/4 inch, which is within normal industry tolerance.

Natural wood characteristics

Variation in color, grain pattern, texture, mineral streaking, and other natural growth phenomena is inherent to real wood and is to be expected. Color shift or fading on finished wood can occur over time from exposure to sunlight, artificial lighting, humidity, and other environmental conditions. Painted finishes develop hairline separation and joint lines as the wood moves with the seasons. These characteristics are part of the natural character of wood, are not manufacturing defects, and are not covered under the claims process or the Limited Lifetime Warranty. Section 12 and the Limited Lifetime Warranty set this out in full.

9. Returns

We accept returns of regular stock on the terms in our Return and Refund Policy, which governs every return. In short:

  • Request a return authorization (RA) first at hello@overstockcabinets.com. Do not ship anything back before you have an RA and a confirmed return address. A return that arrives without an RA number will be refused.
  • Restocking fee: 20% if the return is requested within 30 days of delivery, 35% if requested 31 to 60 days after delivery. Not returnable after 60 days.
  • The return must reach us within 30 days of the RA being issued, unassembled, in its original unopened carton, in resalable condition.
  • You pay return freight, and original shipping and delivery charges are not refunded. We are happy to quote return freight on our carriers and deduct it from your refund. If you arrange your own freight return, the item must be palletized and shrink wrapped, and transit damage on the way back is your claim against your carrier.
  • Approved refunds go back to your original payment method within 10 business days of inspection.
  • Markdown lots and scratch-and-dent items are final sale, and the Return and Refund Policy lists everything else that cannot be returned.

10. Returns for trade professionals

Orders placed on an approved trade account return under the same Return and Refund Policy, except that we may issue an approved refund as a credit to the trade account instead of to the original payment method.

If you resold the product to your own customer, that customer is yours. You are responsible for passing these ordering, delivery, inspection, claims, and return terms on to them accurately, and for handling their questions. We deal with you, not with your customer. See section 18 of the Terms of Sale.

11. Shipping outside the continental United States

We do not ship outside the continental United States. We do not ship to Canada, Alaska, or Hawaii.

Shipping our merchandise outside the continental United States through a freight forwarder or any other method (i) voids all warranties applicable to the merchandise, and (ii) releases us from any and all claims, demands, actions, fees, damages, and liabilities of any kind, whether known or unknown, that the customer may have against us arising out of or in any way related to the claims policy, the order, the merchandise, or the delivery. This includes, without limitation, claims under any applicable warranty and claims for concealed damage, missing items, storage fees, sales, use, and excise taxes, and other similar taxes, duties, and charges.

Overstock Cabinets LLC is not a registered importer of record with customs.

As with all orders, backorders are possible, and we are not responsible for additional receiving fees charged by a freight forwarder because of a backorder.

We reserve the right to change our shipping policies and requirements at any time prior to purchase.

12. Disclaimers

Natural wood

Variations in color, grain, texture, mineral streaking, knots, and other growth phenomena are natural characteristics of wood. Color change on finished wood occurs with exposure to light, humidity, and normal household conditions. A new or replacement cabinet may not match a sample or a cabinet you already have. These variations and color changes are not defects and are not covered under the claims process or the Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Painted finishes

Wood expands and contracts with the seasons. On painted product this produces hairline separation lines, finish breaks, and visible seam lines, most often at stile, rail, panel, and miter joints, and they can become more noticeable over time. This happens on painted cabinetry from every manufacturer, does not affect structural integrity or the protection the finish provides, and is not a defect or a reason for replacement. Painted finishes, particularly light colors, are also affected over time by airborne particles from cooking, grilling, tobacco smoke, fireplaces, and candles, and by prolonged exposure to natural or artificial light. Wipe excess moisture off cabinet surfaces promptly; prolonged water exposure damages an open joint.

Dimensional tolerance

Cabinet dimensions are commonly converted from metric and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. A finished dimension that differs from the published dimension by less than 1/4 inch is within normal industry tolerance and is not a defect.

Finishes, glazes, and distressing

Glazing and distressing are applied by hand. Thickness, darkness, and consistency vary from door to door, glaze gathers in contours and profiles, and drips and runs are inherent to the process. That variation is not a defect in material or workmanship.

Changes to finishes or product design

We may modify a product as supplier availability changes and as improvements are implemented, and we are under no obligation to make those changes to previously manufactured product. If a warranty claim is filed after a product or finish has been discontinued, we reserve the right to honor the warranty by:

  • Replacing the affected component with a new component of the same style, if available; or
  • Replacing the affected component with any other component or components that achieve a similar appearance, in a style comparable in appearance, color, design, or construction, based on current product offerings.

Replacement parts are subject to availability and may differ from the parts originally received. Over a warranty term as long as ours, styles, colors, profiles, and hardware components will be discontinued, and that is expected rather than exceptional. We cannot guarantee an exact match to a discontinued finish, style, or profile, and a visible difference between an original run and a replacement is not itself a defect.
